VARANASI: A 26-year-old woman was beaten to death allegedly by her husband at Amouli village late Thursday night just a week after their wedding, police said.
They said the man has been arrested and further investigation was on.
According to reports, Aarti Pal of Ratnupur, Chandvak (Jaunpur) had married Raju Pal at a temple on May 9. It was Raju's third marriage. Source said Raju had frequent fights with his first two wives.

On Thursday, Raju had a fight with Aarti and he assaulted her badly with a sticks.
Later, Raju informed her family over the phone. The family then notified the police via Dial 112. The police arrived and sent her to the Narpatpur Community Health Centre, where doctors declared her dead. The police took the body into custody and sent it to Pt Deendayal Upadhyay Hospital's mortuary.
Inspector-in-charge Jagdish Kushwaha said Aarti was beaten to death with sticks. The deceased's husband was arrested. A forensic team and dog squad were engaged in the investigation. The police were interrogating Raju.
During the investigation, it came to light that Raju's first marriage with Pooja Pal from Adalhat ended after a year. His second marriage with Sandhya Pal from Lanka, Ghazipur, too ended after 15 days.
