'Operation Sindoor': India inflicted heavy losses on Pakistan military, revealed the Armed Forces
India has caused significant casualties to Pakistan's military forces, destroying several of their advanced fighter aircraft and striking important military sites near Islamabad during their three-day military engagement, according to Indian military officials on Sunday. Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, the Director General of Military Operations, confirmed that 35-40 Pakistani military personnel were killed in the operations. He stated that India had achieved its intended goals and warned Pakistan of severe consequences for any future provocations.
The Indian military confirmed experiencing some casualties but withheld specific details due to ongoing operations.
"We are in a combat scenario. Losses are a part of combat. The question to be asked is, have we achieved our objectives of decimating the terrorist camps? The answer is a thumping yes," Director General Air Operations Air Marshal AK Bharti stated during a press conference.

Vice Admiral AN Pramod on Sunday said that in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, the Indian Navy immediately mobilised its carrier battle group into the northern Arabian Sea in full combat readiness, adopting what he called a "decisive and deterrent posture."
Speaking at a joint press briefing alongside Army and Air Force officials, he confirmed that the Indian Navy had remained forward deployed with the capability to strike high-value targets, including Pakistan’s financial capital, Karachi, under Operation Sindoor.
“In the aftermath of the cowardly attacks on innocent tourists at Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir by Pakistani-sponsored terrorists on 22nd April, the Indian Navy's Carrier battle group, surface forces, submarines and aviation assets were immediately deployed at sea with full combat readiness,” said Vice Admiral Pramod.
In a joint press briefing of defence officials on Sunday, Air Marshal AK Bharti confirmed that Pakistan attempted to breach Indian airspace using its fighter jets in response to India’s cross-border counterterror actions under 'Operation Sindoor'. However, the Indian Air Force successfully repelled the intrusion and downed “a few planes,” inflicting losses on Pakistan’s side.
He also reflected on the IAF’s decision to “strike where it would hurt,” pointing to the targeted assaults on major Pakistani airbases.
“Their planes were prevented from entering inside our border... Definitely, we have downed a few planes... Definitely, there are losses on their side which we have inflicted,” said Air Marshal Bharti. He assured that “all our pilots are back home.”

However, any threat to the sovereignty, territorial integrity and safety of our citizens will be met with decisive force"
'Operation Sindoor': 'Ceasefire violations were responded to robustly', says DGMO
DGMO Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai said "My communication with the Pak DGMO was conducted at 15:35 hrs yesterday and resulted in cessation of cross-border firing and air intrusions by either side with effect from 17:00 hrs, 10th of May, after he proposed that we cease hostilities. We also decided to further speak on the 12th of May at 12:00 hrs to discuss the modalities that would enable the longevity of this understanding. However, disappointingly, expectedly it took only a couple of hours for Pakistan Army to violate these arrangements by cross border and across Line of Control firing followed by drone intrusions through last night and in the early hours of today. These violations were responded to robustly...We have earlier today sent another hotline message to my counterpart highlighting these violations of the understanding between the DGMOs on 10th of May and our firm and clear intent to respond to these fiercely if repeated tonight, subsequently or later...The Chief of Army Staff has granted full authority to our army commander for counteraction in case of any violation by Pakistan..."
In a joint press briefing on Sunday, senior defence officials confirmed that over 100 terrorists were eliminated in India's ongoing counterterror action, codenamed 'Operation Sindoor', launched in the early hours of May 7 in retaliation for the Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians on April 22.
Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai said that Indian armed forces carried out precision strikes on nine terror launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. “Those strikes across those nine terror hubs left more than 100 terrorists killed, including high value targets such as Yusuf Azhar, Abdul Malik Rauf and Mudasir Ahmed that were involved in the hijack of IC814 and the Pulwama blast,” he said.
Nefarious places such as Muridke, the hub center of the Lashkar-e-Taiba has over the years bred infamous characters: DGMO Rajiv Ghai
DGMO Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai said, "It set into motion a very diligent and microscopic scarring of the terror landscape across the borders and the identification of terror camps and training sites. The locations that emerged were numerous, but as we deliberated more, we realised that some of these terror hubs were now bereft of presence and had preemptively been vacated, fearing retribution from us...There was also a term of reference and our own binding self imposed restriction to target only terrorists and thus prevent collateral damage. There were nine camps that you are now all familiar with which were confirmed by our various intelligence agencies to be inhabited. Some of these were in PoJK, while there were others that were located in the Punjab Province in Pakistan. Nefarious places such as Muridke, the hub center of the Lashkar-e-Taiba has over the years bred infamous characters such as Ajmal Kasab and the likes of David Headley"

Jaish-e-Mohammed's headquarters in Pakistan's Bahawalpur, the command hub of the ISI-backed terror outfit was blown to bits in India's precision strikes under 'Operation Sindoor', ANI sources confirmed on Sunday.
The strike, carried out nearly 100 kilometres deep inside mainland Pakistan, was described by sources as the most powerful of 'Operation Sindoor', involving India’s most potent weapon.
The Indian armed forces flattened nine terror launchpads in total, but the hit on Bahawalpur stood out for its strategic and symbolic significance. Among the dead were ten members of JeM chief Masood Azhar’s family. His brother and group's operational commander, Abdul Rauf Azhar was also reportedly killed in the strikes.
'No NSA or foreign minister talks between India and Pakistan, only DGMOs spoke'
There were no talks between the National Security Advisors and the Foreign Ministers of India and Pakistan. There were only talks between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries: Sources
India's former High Commissioner to Pakistan, G Parthasarthy, said on Sunday that by initiating the recent conflict with India, Pakistan's army chief General Asim Munir repeated the "mistakes" made by ex-army chief and later President, Parvez Musharraf.
Parthasarthy's statement came a day after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire, ending the recent military hostilities between the nuclear-armed neighbours.

The roar of Indian forces reached Rawalpindi, the very headquarters of the Pakistani Army,” he said.
'Operation Sindoor symbol of India's political, social and military willpower': Rajnath Singh
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh lauded Operation Sindoor, stating that Indian armed forces successfully neutralised anti-India elements within Pakistan.
During the virtual inauguration of BrahMos Aerospace Integration and Testing Facility in Lucknow, Singh characterised Operation Sindoor as evidence of India's political determination, military capability, and strict stance against terrorism.
"Today, India is one of the most powerful nations in the world. We are constantly increasing our strength. The entire nation is today saluting the bravery of the Indian forces," Rajnath Singh said.
"Operation Sindoor is not just a military action, but a symbol of India's political, social, and military willpower. This operation is a demonstration of India's firm resolve and military strength against terrorism," he stated.
Singh emphasised that the Operation demonstrated that when India acts against terrorism, locations beyond the border would no longer provide sanctuary for terrorists and their controllers.
"The Indian forces launched Operation Sindoor with the objective of destroying the terrorist infrastructure present in Pakistan. We never targeted their ordinary citizens. But Pakistan not only targeted Indian civilian areas, it also attempted attacks on Temples and Gurudwaras. In response, the Indian forces displayed courage and restraint, and struck at various other locations in Pakistan, giving a fitting reply," Rajnath Singh said.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami highlighted the Indian Army's cross-border Operation Sindoor, stating that their actions led Pakistan to request a "ceasefire" within four days.
During his address at the gathering, CM Dhami credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership and guidance for the successful execution of Operation Sindoor.
"The way our army has eliminated terrorist bases across the border (Pakistan), it is clear that our army is writing a new chapter in history today. On this occasion, I, on behalf of myself and all the residents of the state, express my gratitude to the Indian Army, who through their indomitable courage, valor, bravery, and strategy, have forced Pakistan to kneel," he said.

Additionally, Pushkar Dhami issued a warning to Pakistan, stating that India would respond appropriately if they continue their current behaviour.
"In frustration and despair, Pakistan has violated the ceasefire. But I have full confidence that if Pakistan does not mend its ways, our army and our government will not hesitate for even a moment to respond in the same language," he said.

India-Pakistan conflict: Wing Commander (Retd) Praful Bakshi said, "They violated (ceasefire agreement) it for three hours. I don't know what happened in 11 pm meeting. The normal mechanism in case of ceasefire, guns are deployed on both side, firing happens in retaliation, terrorists infiltrate during the firing. I am not saying they did not violate, but it also happens by mistake. Since it was not violated after 11 pm, we can say that it was not their intention... There are many aspects to ceasefire, maybe they wanted to do preparation. We should be prepared."

Operation Sindoor: Lashkar’s Muridke HQ chief among 140 terrorists killed in Op Sindoor
India’s Operation Sindoor, conducted on the night of May 6 and 7, resulted in the elimination of around a dozen high-value terrorists in Pakistan, including IC-814 hijacker Yusuf Azhar, chief of Lashkar's Muridke headquarters Abu Jundal aka Mudassar, and the son of the 2016 Nagrota attack plotter.
Sources termed the deaths of the jihadi commanders as a severe setback to Pakistan's military-terror nexus, adding that fresh estimates show that at least 130-140 terrrorists were killed in the strikes India launched to avenge Pahalgam killings.
The precision strikes also exposed the thin veil that had been long placed between the Pakistani govt and its terror proxies with the funerals of jihadi A-listers being attended by the military-political establishment.

India-Pakistan agreement: From near-war to pause to violation
After three nights of intense aerial warfare, India and Pakistan reached an understanding to end the fighting that President Donald Trump claimed was “mediated” by the US, but which India insisted was achieved bilaterally through director general of military operations (DGMO)-level talks initiated by the Pakistani side.
The understanding quickly ran into teething problems though, with India accusing Pakistan of repeatedly violating the agreement and Indian armed forces responding adequately to such attacks hours after the understanding was announced.
Foreign secretary Vikram Misri called upon Pakistan to take appropriate steps and deal with the situation with seriousness and responsibility. “The armed forces are maintaining a strong vigil on the situation. They have been given instructions to deal strongly with any instances of repetition of the violations of the border along the International Border as well as the LoC,” said Misri.
Earlier in the day, against the run of the play, the conflagration seemed to have come to a quick and abrupt end after the top military officials spoke around 3.35pm, and as Misri announced, agreed both sides would stop all firing and military action on land, in the air and sea from 5pm IST Saturday.
“Instructions have been given on both sides to give effect to the understanding,” said Misri, adding that the DGMOs will talk again on May 12 at 1200 hours. India did not use the word “ceasefire”.

During the night, no drones, firing, or shelling were reported. There seems to be a normal situation in Firozpur, Rajouri, Pathankot, Akhnoor, Jammu city, and Poonch.
When India struck terror facilities hard in Pakistan on Wednesday, for many the act underlined the govt's seriousness of response to the heinous Pahalgam massacre on April 22. Since then, as the Army continued to display the same intensity of intent, both in its offensive and defensive manoeuvres, the public mood on social media platforms largely favoured a military action strong enough to guarantee a deterrent both for terrorists and their handlers. In this prevailing ambience, the Saturday announcement that pauses the raging conflict has been lauded by some but also seen by others as letting Pakistan off the hook. Foreign affairs analyst Brahma Chellaney wondered on X, "Does this mean that Prime Minister Modi has decided not to take 'Operation Sindoor' to its logical conclusion by ending, once and for all, the Pakistani military generals' four-decade-long strategy of waging a 'war of a thousand cuts' against India through terrorist proxies?"

A scheduled emergency blackout drill was conducted at Pune Airport on Saturday from 8:25pm to 8:45pm. The drill aimed to test the airport's preparedness and response to potential power outages or other emergencies.
The drill started with all lights and power systems shut off. Airport staff and emergency responders implemented emergency procedures. Incoming flights were instructed to hover for 20-30 minutes. Regular announcements were made during the drill to keep passengers informed and calm.
Details provided by Airport Director Santosh Dhoke said that the emergency blackout drill was successful in testing the airport's preparedness and response to potential emergencies. The drill highlighted areas of strength and identified opportunities for improvement.
According to Dhoke, the airport's emergency response plan was effective in ensuring a smooth response to the simulated blackout.Communication between airport staff, airlines, and air traffic control was satisfactory and announcements made before and during the drill helped keep passengers informed and calm.
No safety incidents or issues were reported during the drill.
India said on Saturday that Pakistan has violated the understanding reached between DGMOs of the two countries earlier in the day on stoppage of firing and military action and that the Indian Army is retaliating and dealing with the border intrusions.
At a special briefing, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said this is a breach of the understanding arrived at earlier today and India takes "very serious note of these violations".
India called upon Pakistan to take appropriate steps to address these violations and deal with the situation with seriousness and responsibility.
Misri said India's Armed Forces have been given instructions to deal strongly with any instances of repetition of the violations of the border along the International Border as well as the Line of Control.
"For the last few hours, there have been repeated violations of the understanding arrived at earlier this evening between the Directors General of Military Operations of India and Pakistan. This is a breach of the understanding arrived at earlier today. The armed forces are giving an adequate and appropriate response to these violations and we take very very serious note of these violations," Misri said.
"We call upon Pakistan to take appropriate steps to address these violations and deal with the situation with seriousness and responsibility. The armed forces are maintaining a strong vigil on the situation. They have been given instructions to deal strongly with any instances of repetition of the violations of the border along the International Border as well as the Line of Control," he added.
In a drastic revision of its security doctrine, India on Saturday declared that it would from now on consider every instance of terrorism directed against it as an 'act of war' and would respond accordingly. Sources explained that the decision considerably lowers the threshold for India to give full-scale military response to attacks orchestrated from across the border. Although India responded militarily to terrorist attacks in Uri in 2016, Pulwama in 2019 and, most recently, Pahalgam by exercising the military option, the decision on Saturday bakes the new security posture into a doctrine.
