Pahalgam attack: Newly-married UP man shot before his wife

Shubham Dwivedi, a 31-year-old newlywed from Kanpur, was tragically killed in the Pahalgam terror attack. He was vacationing in Kashmir with his wife and family when terrorists targeted them. Shubham was shot dead in front of his wife after the attackers inquired about their identities, cutting short their holiday which was planned to end on Wednesday.

KANPUR: A 31-year-old man from UP was among the 26 tourists killed in the terror attack in Pahalgam on Tuesday.
Shubham Dwivedi, a Kanpur resident, was on a holiday in Kashmir with his family. He got married in Feb this year.
His uncle, Manoj Dwivedi, who lives in Kanpur, told TOI that Shubham along with his wife Eshanya and nine other family members had left for the Kashmir trip on Apr 17.

“The couple left their hotel at 1pm on Tuesday for horse riding while the other members stayed back at the hotel. They were cornered by terrorists. The attackers enquired Eshanya about their identity. When Eshnaya told them that Shubham was her husband, the terrorists shot him dead in front of her,” said Manoj in a choked voice.
Manoj received the tragic news over phone call from his brother and Shubham’s father Sanjay Dwivedi.
DCP east (Kanpur) Shrawan Kumar Singh said, “Shubham lived with his family in Kanpur’s Chakeri area and worked for a cement company.
Shubham’s cousin Saurabh told TOI that the couple got married on Feb 13 this year. The family had to return from the trip on Wednesday.
