BSF jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw, who was held in Pakistan’s custody for three weeks after inadvertently crossing the border during a patrol, was returned to India via the Attari Joint Check Post. His detention on April 23 came just days before India launched precision airstrikes under Operation Sindoor in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. Though such handovers are usually swift, heightened Indo-Pak tensions had delayed his return. Shaw was peacefully handed over along with his service weapon under standard military protocols, underwent medical checks, and is now being debriefed.
