Global music sensation Ed Sheeran has confirmed that he is joining forces with Indian playback singer Arijit Singh for a track in his upcoming album. The news has created a buzz of excitement among fans around the world.
In a recent interview with Heart, a popular UK-based radio station, the 'Perfect' hitmaker revealed details about a surprise collaboration that had been kept under wraps until now. “I worked a lot with this Indian singer Arijit Singh, who is really good and really wonderful. He basically lives in the middle of nowhere in India. It’s like a three-hour flight and a five-and-a-half-hour drive. I was in India with my dad. He (Arijit) was like, ‘If you want the vocals, you’ll have to come to me,’” Ed shared during the conversation.

Social media erupted with fan reactions soon after the announcement. A thrilled user commented, “Two of the greatest artists are coming together. I’m so fortunate to be part of this.” Another wrote, “My prayers paid off! I was praying for a collab between Arijit and Ed, and it’s happening. Let’s go, I’m excited now.” Others joined in with messages like, “It’s happening—two of the best in the world collaborating,” and “Hoping for something epic and historic.” One user simply declared, “Arijit x Ed is about to be epic.”

Ed Sheeran visited India earlier this year as part of his Mathematics Tour. During his trip, he took a detour to West Bengal’s Murshidabad district, where he visited Jiaganj, Arijit’s hometown. The visit surprised many locals when the two stars were seen casually riding scooters around the village without any entourage or visible security.
Reflecting on the experience, Ed added, “It was like a pilgrimage with my dad. We travelled for almost an entire day to his village, and then he (Arijit) drove us around on mopeds, around his village. It was really a fun day.”
