In recent updates, another drug-related controversy has come to light in the Korean entertainment industry. On May 1, the 7th criminal division of the Seoul Western District Court sentenced rapper Sik-K to 10 years in prison for using and abusing drugs and illicit substances.
Sik-K sentenced to prison, deferred by probation
The rapper was recently found guilty and sentenced to a 10-year prison term for the use and abuse of illegal drugs. His sentence, however, has been put off by a probationary period of 2 years in total.
The court provided a ruling in the matter, stating, "The defendant abused illegal drugs multiple times, not to mention he is a public figure with significant influence on the public. However, it was also noted that he is deeply reflecting on his actions, and he turned himself in for possession of illegal drugs," as reported by Allkpop.
The rapper turned himself in to the police
Recently, the rapper had himself visit the Yeongsan police station and turned himself in on the matter. After the police investigation into the matter had concluded, it was found that the artist was guilty of using and abusing illegal drugs like ketamine and ecstasy in October of 2023 and marijuana in January 2024.
At the time, representatives of the rapper had also issued a statement, sharing that “Sik-K has surrendered to charges of simple possession of marijuana and smoking and is admitting to these charges. No Philopon (a form of methamphetamine) component was detected in Sik-K’s hair test results submitted during the investigation.”
