Suriya confirms 'Vaadivaasal' shoot
In a recent promotional event of 'Retro' in Mumbai, Suriya confirmed that his much-anticipated film 'Vaadivaasal', directed by Vetrimaaran, will officially commence shooting later this year. During a media interaction, the actor stated, “On May 1st, 'Retro' will come and from this year (2025) onwards, I will also begin shooting for 'Vaadivaasal.'” This statement has brought renewed excitement to fans who have been eagerly awaiting updates on the film. Originally announced a few years ago, 'Vaadivaasal' had faced delays due to both Suriya and Vetrimaaran’s prior commitments. However, the project is now finally taking shape, with a recent photo of the actor and director together hinting at active pre-production.

A story rooted in Tamil tradition
'Vaadivaasal' is based on a culturally rich and intense storyline that revolves around the traditional bull-taming sport, Jallikattu. The plot centers on two men, Picchi and Marudan, who attempt to tame a legendary bull that once defeated Picchi’s father. Set in the village of Periyapatti, the film promises a gripping narrative rooted in rural Tamil Nadu’s culture and heritage.

Beyond 'Vaadivaasal' and 'Retro', Suriya also confirmed a collaboration with director Venky Atluri for 'Suriya 46', set to begin in May 2025 after his film with RJ Balaji. Fresh off his dual-role performance in the historical fantasy 'Kanguva', Suriya’s career continues its dynamic momentum.
