Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry isn’t playing in Game 5 against the Minnesota Timberwolves, but the team has shared a new update regarding the re-evaluation of his hamstring injury. According to the latest statement by the Warriors, Curry can now participate in light workouts, but his injury will be re-evaluated on Saturday.
Golden State Warriors issue new statement on Stephen Curry
The new update was shared on the team’s official X account Wednesday night. The statement read: “Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, who has missed the last three (3) games due to a strained left hamstring, has been re-evaluated. The re-evaluation indicated that Curry is making good progress in his recovery. He has been cleared to participate in light on-court workouts, including shooting drills. He will be re-evaluated again on Saturday.”
“Curry sustained the injury against the Minnesota Timberwolves during the second quarter of Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals,” it further read.
Reacting to the post, a Warriors fan wrote on X, “We need a miracle.” Another said, “Until he can participate in a scrimmage during practice or he’s able to fully sprint down the court no one should expect him back anytime soon.”
Stephen Curry may return in the upcoming days, but it will hold meaning only if the Golden State Warriors survive the do-or-die Game 5. The Minnesota Timberwolves are leading 3-1 in the semifinals, and if the Warriors fail to win Game 5, it will be the end of the season for them. If the Warriors are able to clinch a win, Curry could return in Game 6 or later to help the team advance in the series.
Draymond Green recently said that they don’t need a Superman in the form of Curry, who can take his time getting better. “As far as Steph, he’s working his tail off every day. You know, he’s in here eight, nine hours a day, working, doing what he can to try to get back. So, you know, his morale is great. Obviously, nobody’s excited right now, but he’s working to get back. That’s all you can do it at this point,” he said about how Curry is providing moral support to the team.
